Prepared Mustard
Prepare mustard is made by mixing either type
mustard seed with liquids such as wine, beer, vinegar, verjuice, must, water
and oil. If the seed has not yet been ground then
it is ground into a fine paste and often seasoned with herbs, spices
and/or salt.
Common seasons for mustard are salt, turmeric,
pepper, garlic, paprika, tarragon and other herbs.
Growing Mustard Plants
Mustard is easily grown in any garden of even on a wayside. Seed can
simple be thrown on soil during times of adequate rain and they will
easily and quickly grow. Mustard will grow best in good soil under full
sun, but will also do just fine under less than ideal conditions.
If you
wish to harvest the mustard seed, pick the pods just as they start to turn
brown and place them in a paper bag to complete drying. If the seed pods
are left too long on the plants they will shatter spreading the seed and
self sowing another crop.
